Rhythmic
ti-TA-ti The first rhythmic concept in which the sounds are unevenly distributed. In this case there are three unequal sounds on one beat. The accent falls on a part of the beat that is normally weak. The strong sound begins on the second half of the beat. Instrumental
Level Bordun This is sometimes called a call and response bordun. This bordun can be played using the low timbre and then the high timbre on one instrument or two instruments with different timbres can be used (bass xylophone and alto xylophone) to create the same effect. Moving Bordun Recorder Students will begin to learn the basics of playing the recorder. This is the first instrument they will play that requires use of the breath and individual finger dexterity. |

High Do Students will demonstrate in a variety of ways the concept of High Do. Students will be able to read patterns and perform them using their voice or an instrument. High Do is a note higher than La and completes the pentatonic scale. Students now know three different octaves. There is a skip between La and High Do. High Do also introduces the term superscript. Fa Students will demonstrate in a variety of ways the concept of Fa. Students will be able to read patterns and perform them using their voice and instrument. Fa is a note between Mi and Sol. Fa is the first half step we encounter. |
